Adult Development 4/562 |
Life is an ongoing, continuous experience. It does not stop at adolescence. What we are and how we develop in later life is not fixed in childhood. We continue to learn, to grow, and to develop throughout our entire lives. Adulthood is a time with enormous potential for people to chart out new directions, new lifestyles, and new choices. How does a person choose a career, find and commit to a spouse, raise children, retire, and face old age? These are questions that, among others, will be covered in the course.
The major goals of the course are:
|
(1) |
to make you familiar with normal human development from adulthood to old age |
|
(2) |
to acquaint you with some of the basic concepts and research methods that are used in the study of adult development |
|
(3) |
to give you an overview of current theories about adult development and aging, as well as to discuss the myths and stereotypes that we all hold about aging. |
The goals of the course will be accomplished through lectures, discussions, readings, and films.
