Advising for Undergraduate Students

Prior to attending drop-in advising psychology majors need to attend a group advising session.

Group Orientation Advising

All Psychology Majors must attend a group orientation advising session. Group sessions are held several times weekly.

Orientation Advising covers:
  • Use of PSU Bulletin
  • Psychology degree requirements
    • Required courses
    • Use of waivers
    • Course exceptions
  • Transfer credit questions
  • Common degree completion questions
  • How to find a Psychology faculty adviser

Students can sign up for group advising outside Jan Haaken's office, CH 317L. Please submit your name, student ID number, and major on an Orientation Advising Form to the Psychology Department Office one week or more prior to your appointment.

Drop-in Advising

Undergraduate students majoring in psychology can attend drop-in advising sessions to get assistance with questions such as:

  • Have I satisfied the psychology department requirements for graduation?
  • What classes should I take next term?
  • Which faculty could give me advice about the area of psychology I am interested in?

Drop-in advising is provided by psychology peer advisors. For faculty advising, please stop by the faculty offices in the psychology department, Cramer Hall 317. For advising from peer advisors, please stop by the Psi Chi office, Cramer Hall 366. Peer advising hours are listed on the Psi Chi office door.
